What is your name?: | Kim |
Where are you from?: | Anacortes,WA |
Tell us about why you use CPAP and how you got diagnosed.: | I’m a chronic snorer. Even as a kid, I was compared to a bear (and not the cute bear. The big grizzly bear). Plus I sleep walk. So I went to the doctor complaining about sleep and my tonsils, and just breathing in general. I got referred to an ear/nose/throat doctor but both my primary care physician and the ENT doc ordered a sleep study. Immediately Doc Reyna said I had all the signs and symptoms of someone with apnea (the way my jaw and mouth were?). I had 2 sleep studies. One without medication one with. I brought food and drinks because I know I sleep eat. The doc was amazed at how much I ate and drank while asleep (2 liter bottles of water, 2 cans of LaCroix, peanut butter jelly sandwiches, cookies, and beef jerky. All while asleep). I got diagnosed with apnea and insomnia related to not breathing. Apparently I never slept? |
What do you LOVE about CPAP treatment?: | I can sleep! The bags under my eyes that I thought were just part of my adorable face (kidding) are gone. It’s awesome. I don’t snore anymore. Plus I’m not the biggest snorer of my friends or family anymore! I’ve always been the loudest snorer in my circle of people. And no more sleep eating. |
Any advice for other CPAP Babes?: | It makes you feel weird and self conscious. I joke about how crazy I look. |
A babe local to my hometown! Hi Kim! I’m down in Seattle but from Bellingham originally!
I have heard of sleep eating but never met anyone with it! I can only imagine how troubling that would be…anyone else deal with that?
